Michael Cera Sings?

There's a new music artist out there, and he's joined the industry in a surprising fashion. On August 12, Michael Cera released his first album, True That, on his bandcamp. The 26 year old actor is well known for his quirkiness, and his music matches up to the hype. It seems that Cera has been hiding his musical talent, other than brief moments in Scott Pilgrim Vs The World, in which he played Scott, a bassist for the band Sex Bob-Omb. This album is filled with short tracks that highlight Cera's guitar, piano, and vocal skills. With mostly instrumentals, this album is filled with tunes one can lounge around to. Cera's voice has almost an Iron and Wine feel, bringing the folky, acoustic tunes together. For $7 (and three bonus tracks!) why not support an up and coming musician?

True That is available for download for now at michaelceramusic.bandcamp.com.

Look Who's New In Town

Hello hello! I hope this post finds you all doing well. The name's Gabriella. I am twenty years old, and I have recently set my mind on becoming a music journalist. Why, you ask? That's why I'm making this post!

For eight years now, music has been a major part of my life. I played the flute in band, I am constantly expanding my music library, and just last year I picked up the ukulele. I'd wanted to go to school for music, but I had no idea what I would do. Originally I had thought of musical theatre, but I soon realized that A. the program was difficult to get into, and B. I still wanted to double major with English. And then it dawned on me: journalism. What could be better than interviewing bands I had only dreamed of seeing live?

This blog has been created for me to make some practice articles and to share my concert/music experiences. I'll update it whenever I see a show, or whenever I hear a new album I'd like to share. I have a feeling this will go very well, and I hope you enjoy what I have to share. Thanks for reading, and I hope you read again!
